I’m Natalie — a mother, photographer, and writer based in Arizona. After 10+ years of publishing photos and words to a new audience every year, I figured a little rebranding and reintroduction was in order.
A Little About Me
I thrive in nature with a glass of chilled natty orange in hand. I’m typically spotted at the Arboretum on Saturday mornings, then belting out karaoke late into the night. I most value my sweet family, scrappy dogs, our hand-built home, sunny weather, and my 2017 Subaru Outback.
I’ve spent over a decade as a photographer, traveling to remote corners of the globe with top brands to tell compelling visual stories alongside amazing teams. I’m deeply grateful for the connections and opportunities this career has brought me. Currently, alongside freelance photography, I’m the Head Editor of The Moment Journal and the creator of The Sunporch newsletter on Substack. ;)
My Creative Philosophy:
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the power of images and stories, using photography as my language of expression and gratitude. I see my work as a chronicle of human connection — an exploration of nature, bright colors, warm tones, and “commercial” imagery that dares to challenge the status quo. As a film-first analog lover, I savor the intentional, unhurried process of capturing a moment undisturbed, preserving how it felt.
5 Fun Facts:
I’m obsessed with Anthony Bourdain.
My favorite music genres are country folk, dad yacht rock, and 80s synth.
I hate cold weather.
I used to be a punk-rock drummer and skateboarder in Middle School. Don’t know what happened there.
Drip coffee, light cream. That’s it.
What Inspires Me:
Warm weather.
Dinner parties and moments of togetherness.
Loved ones; old and new.
Expansive, mysterious, open desert land.
Old dogs.
Flowers, tomatoes, grapevines, soil.
My grandma’s chill-ness.
Culture shock.
An Entirely NEW Website!
This has been a big one on my to-do list for quite a while. After becoming a mother and spending the past couple of years turning our home into a livable, comfortable space, I’ve decided the next 12 months should be dedicated to reconnecting with my creative self. That means focusing on this newsletter, my photography, self-assignments, and finally reinvesting in my camera gear (it’s been years since I bought a camera or lens — hard to believe, tbh).
I felt like my old website only showed a small piece of who I am — it didn’t really capture the whole picture. The truth is, I’m more than just a photographer or a writer; I’m both, and then some. I have a strong sense of what I love, and I’m not interested in following restrictions. Visual storytelling has been a cornerstone of my identity for over a decade, and it was time to showcase this side of myself in a way that feels authentic.
So, check it out! The new site is finally in a great place, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Huge thanks to Go Easy Co. for the stunning new logos and color palettes, and to Eunice Beck for capturing me so beautifully and naturally. :) I’m so grateful for my amazing friends and the incredible creative community that surrounds me.
Come check it out!
Okay, enough self-promotion. This was a fun (busy) undertaking while working full-time as a parent, but I am beyond stoked about how everything came out! Thank you so much for your support; I love each and every one of you.
